  The Merseyside Athletics Network


The current plan is as follows:


Improve coach development and participation in Throws (Hammer, Discus, Javelin and Shot Putt):

- Coach Development days to take place at various clubs
- Flying Coach visits in evening workshops 
- Workshops around wider development of throws i.e. strength and conditioning, nutrition for power athletes 
- Increase the number of throws coaches in the county on the LCDP programme
- Increase the number of throws coaches in the county on the NCDP programme
- Increase number of field officials across the county 
- Throw specific mentoring system linked into the LCDP programme 
- Merchandise for coaches attending 
- Purchase of Athletics 365 folders for Assistant Coaches to deliver throwing sessions

 




Link in with EA Volunteer Scheme and create a pathway and guidelines for volunteers (parents, coaches, officials etc) to make volunteering more structured within the country:

- England Athletics Volunteer Scheme will be used to develop the infrastructure of volunteering within the network clubs
- All club websites(including network website) to have added section on how to become a volunteer and other information around this
- Produce a Volunteer Management System for all clubs 
- Funding available for volunteers to attend officials courses to support competitions 
- Specific information produced for parents explaining the basics of being involved with an athletics club i.e. different leagues, different       events, track etiquette etc.
- Recruitment road shows to be held across the county
- Support the development of current volunteers such as club committees, team managers, officials etc.
- Pen drives with volunteer information on to support needs of volunteers
- Celebrating Volunteers evening  

 


 

Improve Coach Development and Participation in Disability Athletics:

- Work with local authority and facility providers to ensure accessibility is available
- Link in with EA Disability Officer 
- Recruit, train and develop coaches and volunteers for Liverpool Challenge club
- Workshops educating officials within regards to disability track and field events
- Liverpool Challenge to achieve Clubmark
- Merseyside County Championships to become inclusive of disability events
- Workshops within the throws education to include disability throws
- Raise the profile of athletes with disabilities within the county via promotion on websites, flyers and newsletter and appearances at       events.
- Link in with the EA Disability Plan

 


 

 Marketing and Promotion of Network:

- Network to find private sponsorship of network and/or clubs to increase revenue and sustainability
- Produce a ‘Network Marketing Strategy’ to ensure network has a sustainable identity.
- Re-development of current website
- Network merchandise to be produced containing website and coordinators details to be given to all coaches who attend network           events.
- Build on promotion to key partners outside of network clubs
- Flyer for all events
- Flyer for clubs and network
- Promotion for committee members

 




Increase the number of higher qualified coaches-‘Assistant Coach’ and ‘Coach’ and above:

- Link in with the UKA Women’s Coaching Advisory Group to ensure more female coaches reach a higher coaching qualification
- Host the EA “Coach” Course within the county.
- Host the EA “Assistant Coach” Course with the county

 


 

Increase performance and participation in Endurance events

- Creation of a Road Running Club Sub group
- Support a range of endurance events across the county; linking in with Liverpool Marathon, Park Run etc
- Endurance workshops including fundaments i.e. strength and conditioning, injury prevention, nutrition etc
- Road Running Launch event
